you aint bull****ing! that duration is pretty big, i wonder why it doesnt say what needs machining on the cylinder heads and i bet that pretains to stock head, i bet any aftermarket head will work

thats actually fast approaching some of the more moderate ls1 cams which are entirely different than lt1. pick something closer to 550 lifts or lower. and someone else can verify this, but i think a good street cam for the lt1 is typically like 211 duration @ .05.

from what ive heard other guys running, that sounds like a strip-only cam

specter is absolutely correct, what are your plans/goals ?

if this is your daily drive id step down the cam big time to maybe a mild or lt4 cam, youre gonna be wasting a lot of gas in that thing. And a huge cam is not always a good thing, you could be losing some power

alih.... are we agreeing? this feels kinda dirty []

[8D]

to the OP,
I dont have time for the in-depth science-ey explanation. but if you overcam your heads you tend to lose power down low. so the car will feel sluggish off the line and will gain power up top. you will also have to rev higher. this is true of pretty much any cam setup as you increase overlap. the problem with overcamming is that your heads may not support enough flow so you really arent gaining power up top anymore either. so now what you have accomplished is a car that loses torque while not making power either.

my cam is a 232/234 duration 595/598 lift, but im LS1 so my heads can handle these figures. my car builds pwoer like a turbo car. actually.... quite similarly to the way my bike makes power too. nothing... nothing... nothing... OMFG!!!!!!

its kinda like "VTEC OH SH** THATS FAST!" lol

iim worried that you will overcam though with that package. its probably made for cars with ported heads or a 383 setup (i say 383 because the power range seems low for that radical of a cam (relatively) so maybe its a compensation for the lower redline of a stroker)

spec brings up an interesting point that usually is reserved for me to bring up first. if i were you, i'd do heads at the same time i do my cam. that way you can match your heads with your cam and get the absolute best results for what your individual goals are. that's where you need to start....pick what you want out of the car and then you can start putting pieces together. the biggest cam doesn't mean the best cam for you
