0 oil pressure, and raised Temp

Hey guys haven’t posted for a while… guess that’s a good thing because I usually start posting when things go wrong. But anyway, I was giving a buddy from church a ride in my car and on the way back to the church it died. Yes, I drove it hard when I took him for a spin but it died when I was coming to a stop at a red light. I tried starting it back up and it would not turn over as if the batter was dead. So I pulled off and hooked some cables up to let the battery charge, after about 10 minutes the car cranked right up and I was on my way home. Well 25 mins later the “check gages” light came on and my oil pressure had dropped to 0 and my temp started going up. By the time I was home the temp gauge had hit the third mark (there is only 4 the forth is over heating). Also my normal oil pressure was around 20psi before this started happening. What do you guys think I should do? I’ve heard you guys say many times that the oil pump may need to be replaced but anyone know what I’m looking at as far as a price for that goes? Thanks to any posts, Jake

IMO you killed the engine. If your normal oil pressure was 20 PSI, the engine was already pretty well worn out, and you should have not pushed it. The fact that the engine stalled out and couldn't turn over till it cooled down, indicates that something seized, most likely a spun bearing. Zero pressure and high temp means that the engine was not getting lubricated and a lot of metal to metal contact was taking place. Time for a rebuild.
