Ok i have an 02 SS with a couple of mods, (listed in my sig), and i noticed that when i accelerate hard i could feel thumping coming from the rear of the car. You can also hear it.Ihave all stock suspension, chassis, and tires, Good year Eagle F1's. Im thinking its wheel hop, so i ordered a BMR torque arm bar, trac pac kit,and it is comin in tuesday. I got the one that dosent connect to the trainsmission tailshaft, rather it has a universal cross brace and is shorter then the other style. First question is what im felling and hearing wheel hop. Second will the torque arm stop it if it is wheel hop. And last, does the universal cross brace that comes in the kit weld up to subframe connectors, b/c in the pictures on the site its really hard to tell. Any info will help out. thanks

 

Yea thats wheel hop alright. The torque will help a bunch and you got the right one, I have no idea why GM thought it was a good idea to connect the tailshaft to the rear end[&:]. You should also look into getting lower control arms.

I still have my stock 10 bolt with stock 3:42 gears. I do run a set of UMI control arms and a UMI panhard bar, I get no wheel hop and so far the rear has been fine.

 

Wheel hop is bad, it's good to see you are addressing the issue.

If you still have any wheel hop, as SOON as you feel it GET OUT OF THE GAS!!!! Otherwise you'll have a good excuse to can the 10bolt and go for a 12.
