So your telling me that the Ram Air effect these cars have serve no point what-so-ever? I've been told that this ram air add additional hp but only past a certin mph? Now you being the LS1 guy that you say you are does this cause an increase or no?
3-5 hp increase is almost nothing... take out your spare tire and you got the same effect.

Any benifit would be after at least 100 mph and even then it's only going a couple of hp. I am going by what I have seen on dynos and at the track. The ram air looks good but is really of almost zero performance benefit. GM did a good job marketing these cars and lots of people want to beleive that the SS and WS6 cars make more hp but they don't.

So is there anything I can do to get a real ram air affect on my car?

Why bother it's not going to get any real power. If want an increase in power put in a cam or get headers. Ram air is not some magic thing that adds a ton of power.

I am thinking when he said take out the spare I thought he meant the extra weight taken away, showing how little of a difference it would make. Am I wrong?

Jack and spare are about 40 lbs, which is not much in the 1/4...maybe .004 or so if you figure that every 100lbs is worth .01.
