What's Better Z28 or SS
Hi I have a V6 camaro 2000 . I want to know what is better a 2002 Z28 or SS . I know they both have corvette engines but how dependable are they ? Also what are the differences? What is the gas mileage like ? What are the times in the quarter mile and speed? And if any one has had theirs dyno tested stock to see how much horse power it has ?I am pretty satisfied with my Camaro V6 , But i want more horsepower . Any info. would be greatly be appreciated Thanx!
JD1969 is right, for the most part they are exactly the same but really depends on the year your talking about in some of the later years there were some differences but none of which were in performance mostly cosmetic. I wasn't aware of the suspension change and I'm not sure if the SS also came with a posi track but I know for a fact all Z28's come with posi....
Cosmetic are the only things I can think of that are different. I personally would rather have an SS over a Z28, but what am I talkin about, I rather have a Cobra, [8D]. Its funny though, they list the SS with 345hp and the Z28 less than that, not sure the exact #'s, but it was less.
The 2002 standard coupe Z28 came with a 4-speed automatic P245/50ZR16 wheels and made 310 Hp and 340 torque. The SS was a $3,625 package upgrade including a forced-air induction hood, a specific SS spoiler, 17 in aluminum wheels P275/40ZR17 tires, low restriction duel outlet exhaust system, SS badging and came standard with and MN6 six-speed manual transmission it made 325 Hp and 350 torque. I would go with the SS if you can find one, fewer were made and they're a bit more collectable.
