The camaro should theoretically win.

Same engine/drivetrain specs, but the GTO is a couple hundred pounds heavier, and much more difficult to launch.

Either way, it's probably gonna come down to drivers....

Yeah, the average weight of a GTO is around 3800 pounds I believe.

Depends on which car I'm driving and which car you're driving, the car I'm driving wins!

Haha you should have him. Same engine and power, but he has harder launch and heavier car. All yours.

funnily enough, i own a 99 z28 A4, slp intake, full suspension, de muffler at back. UK spec quoted 305 bhp stock, i recon about 320 ish??. (1560 kg)

My best mate has a 04 Vauxhall (holden, pontiac) Monaro (GTO) M6, full cat back true dual 2.5" ss exhaust with x pipe. Quoted stock UK 336 bhp, i think 345 ish with exhaust. (1690 kg)

Anyhow, when we go out for a boot the cars are actually pretty well match. there is not half a car between us if we have 70mph rolling start. from a bog i will jump 2 cars but wont pull away until 140mph +.

If you have a M6 camaro you should pull away, but again depends on driver if i go into 2nd at right time he has to go 3rd so i pull way infront, but if he can drop the 2nd too the gearing means he pulls 3 lengths on me.

When I had my 98 Z, I raced an LS1 GTO down the quarter. Mine was a stock automatic and the GTO was a six speed with an intake. I won! There's all kinds of these videos out there!

sorry to bring the thread back up BUT THE CAMARO IS KING,

from my last post i desribed racing with my friends monaro(GTO) well he has just had it dynoed and it pulled 402 bhp at the fly and has been modded and has different rocker arms put on to increase lift so its more power than i previously thought. So im more impressed with my 'maro as i can bet him sometimes as i said above.

overall though in a stock race a camaro should always kill any GTO, and in my case you will win 50% of time depending on driving with a GTO running circa 400 bhp vs almost stock camaro!
