Default truck motor

I have a 95 z 6 speed car that I really would like to get back on the road. Taxes are comeing up and so is pail. How hard would it be to put an LS truck motor in a maro? I know the basics like ECU and wiring harness. What about my tranny, motor mounts, and fuel system? I had a 99.5 Z71 with the 5.3 loved it would prob use that engine if I can find one for cheap.

how cheap. have you thought of headers and good exhaust. gona need them, the ls has a different exhaust manifold. why not just build the lt1? unless your getting the motor crazy cheap you will get more hp putting the money into the lt1.

this is more complex than just motor mounts. you basicly need a LS1 car as a doner for just about everything. You will find that the K member, suspension, wiring, dash, brakes, ABS, Fuel system and a few other parts are not going to be the same. The 5.3 from a truck will fit to the LS1 tranny and engine mounts, I dont know about the 5.3 out of a Monte Carlo I do know it is a different block. The truck intake will NOT work with a camaro since it is too tall and the exhaust manifolds I think will work but dont quote me I do not know for sure. I agree with you the 5.3L engine is a great engine I loved the 2 I had in my Avalanches.

Those 5.3 are completely interchangeable with ls1 parts as far as i know. I can pick up a complete motor for about $600. It is actually a popular swap because it cost a fraction of an ls1.
