Default Torque Converter Question???

If you couldn't tell by by user name, I have a 2001 Z28. I'm thinking about installing a tc but i have some questions. My camaro is an everyday driver so is this going to ruin my gas mileage or hurt my engine in the long run? Also would i need any other mods such as different gears etc. I'm on a budget since im in college but want some more speed. Also if you guys could provide some decent brands and sizes that would be good too. Thanks.

Default RE: Torque Converter Question???

It won't kill your milage, but it will drop a little bit around town, highway driving will stay the same (due to lock-up). Go for a at least a 3000 rpm or don't bother. Look at Yank or Fuddle, stay away from TCI, B&M. Converters are exspensive to get a good one, if you cheap out you will not get the performance out it.
