what kind of aftermarket spark plugs and spark plug wire's would be good for a 2000 SS.

 

i would go with msd ignition wires and ac/delco plugs

 

I use TR55 Plugs and MSD wires its a great set and you wount be disapointed

 

ok here's the thing I had a dyno test done on my car and was told that I need plugs and wire's then I took it to a chevy dealership to see how much it would cost to install some plugs and wire's and they told me for 2000 SS I dont need to change my plug's and wire's till 90,000 miles and I only have 41,000 so the dealer told me to come back on tuesday and they will check it out for me so if I do need new plugs and wire's how will the TR55 Plugs and MSD wires improve my car over a regular wire set and plug's will I get better mpg's more hp and if I dont need new plugs and wire's should I change them anyways?

 

Unless there is somthing wrong (like a fouled plug or burnt wire) you will not see a performance gain with new wire and plugs (at least not a measurable gain). Always remember that a dyno will show a different number on a different day (due to weather, set-up, etc)

 

Ummm... Maybe its just me but is everyone in here forgetting that the LS1 has no plug wires? There is a coil pack on top of each cylinder and a boot. If the boot is cracked or dry rotten then you could be getting some arc down the hole. It is also possible that one or two of your eight coil packs may be bad. A scanner will usually pick up this condition.

Have ever worked on an LS1? Because they most certainly have plug wires, they are short (only about 6 inches long) but they are deffinatly there.

 

My bad... I had the MOD 4.6 on the brain..

I have worked on the LS1 but not as extensively as the prior GEN II engines. We are looking for one to dig into it but there still pulling the heavy dollar.

The coil pack ontop of the valve covers are like a group of 8 little distributers. What it boils down to is the computer controls the spark instead of a distributer. There is a plug wire from each coil to it's corresponding plug. If You hane spark plugs, You have to have some method of supplying power ( plug wires )

 

has anyone ever heard of E3 spark plugs check them out at www.e3sparkplugs.com and tell me what you think they look like pretty good spark plugs.
