side exit exhaust

Default side exit exhaust

I was google searching side exhaust for the 4th gen camaro, and I found this

I don't want to sound like a complete R-tard here, but that is in fact a side exhaust system? If it isn't can somebody point me in the right direction?

Nope! Pretty sure that is for the rear exit(like stock)! I've never seen a 4th gen with it exiting before the back tire, that is what youre asking......rite?

If you want it to exit at the rear tires, you're gonna need a custom job. All cat-backs (As far as I'm aware) are rear exit. You could do a pretty cheap true dual setup though, and just have them run dumps out towards the rears instead of right at the axle...

yeah i've seen a 2000 SS with that kind of set-up, but all the searching that I've done has turned up very little knowledge fruit as far as pricing goes, do you have any idea?

i have an '02 z/28 that i have experimented with this type of setup. i have SLP longtubes with 3 inch collectors. instead of running the exhaust through the magnaflow catback and offroad y pipe that i have for it, i decided to go to pep boys and get mufflers for the headers. i picked up a pair of thrush welded 3" (about $40 each) that slipped right onto the headers and i made mounts that came off of the transmission crossmember. it sounded awesome and i really enjoyed it, but the problem was that it killed my ground clearance. i was able to drive it no problem, but hitting big bumps on the highway meant that the mufflers would scrape. if i had some sort of offset pipe to tuck the mufflers up toward the body more i would run this setup again. until then, i welded in a set of 3" dumps onto the off road y pipe(right off the headers), so now i can have my car sound like it eats small children and select wooldland critters, or i can run it through the full exhaust and be on good terms with my neighbors

oh yea, and if you decide to go the way i did with the mufflers, you might want to invest in some turn down tips so you can aim the exits out. this way the exhaust wont resonate through the cab. it gets annoying when you're trying to talk to your passenger(s)

hmm, thanks for the help.
Another question if you i don't have any other work done on the engine, I still can put true duals on right? I don't need to install headers or anything?

As far as pricing goes, it will vary a lot depending on a few things, like what kind of quality workmanship you want, type of materials used, and how much tucking-up custom fab work is done. But I'd say that including some form of bullet mufflers, any true dual system that dumps before the rear axle should be less than 500 dollars.

No, you don't need to buy headers to do custom true duals, that's why it's 'custom'! :P
But headers are one of the basic bolt-ons that are highly recommended, and they make a world of difference for both performance and sound quality.
