Really a problem???
So apperantly my car was smoking a little so i brought it down to get it checked. I had to get the valve cover gaskets replaced and an oil sending unit replaced. When he went to replace the gaskets he looked where the oil circulates and the oil has barely ever been changed. I bought the car a month ago and i just found this out like a couple weeks ago. He said it looked like it had 300,000 miles and really only has like 120xxx. He told me i should get rid of it because there will be a whole lot of problems down the road.
My question is is that really a problem or should i go with what he said?

get a second opinion before doing anything... I have a hard time believing the car hasnt had its oil changed in that long.... what did he base his opinion on? oil color alone? 100 miles will turn oil jet black.....

id have to see what u are talking about. could be it was overheated and oil got baked on or the oil was not changed enough or both. is it smoking from the exhaust? have u done a compression test? what condition were the valve cover gaskets in. can u do the work yourself? if u like working on cars its not a issue. with me its an excuse to build a motor for the car.

the valve gaskets were broke. and i guess when he went to replace them apperantly there are holes that the oil drains out of in the engine (i assume you know what im talking about) and the oil couldnt drain out bc it was caked. and he took pics and everything bc he said in the 15 years he has been in the auto repair he hasnt seen anything that bad.
