Power Window Issue

different speeds
When I bought my 94 both windows were acting up. I ended up changing both sides/motors. Wasn't that bad, one side I used the little bolts that came with and the other side a friend let me use his rivit gun. Both sides are working good. Pass is a little slow but I think it's a switch issue.

My driver side is doing the same thing except pulling up on it does not do anything. Do I need to replace the regulator AND the lift motor or just one of those? The movement of the window when it is going up or down is a LOT slower than the passenger side also. If I need to do both, then I will but if I only need to replace one, that's all I want to replace. I just want to do it right the first time without having to tear it down multiple times.

Do not use a rivet gun, that's just going to screw you if you just replace the motor, which is what is only needed most of the time. Rivets will do fine for the regulator.
Use this: http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html, to replace the motor. I've found that the best motors are at autozone, 60 bucks and lifetime warranty. DO NOT USE the bolts that come with the motor, go to ACE or the like and get some a little bigger diameter, ones that are the same diameter as the holes in the motor. You may have to drill the holes out a little bit, but the bigger bolts will hold the motor firmly and keep it from going out rematurely. I've had a lot of expeirence with these, replaced easily 30 4th gen motors, about 14+ of those in my own car over 12 years. I have never replaced the regulator's in my car, and the last motors I put in my car where from autozone and that was about 2 years ago.
Forgot to add one more thing. If you have an alarm that allows you to roll up/down the windows with a remote, then you need to check that before you go replacing motors. The window modules can act up/fail, no matter what the brand, and leave you with one/both motors not working. All you have to do to test is unplug the motor, put a voltage meter on the plug and see if you're getting voltage when you try to roll up/down the window, if you're getting voltage, then it's the motor. I had this problem and replaced the window motor three times in one day until I figured out the problem. Ripped the window motor out and put the wireing back to stock for the windows and no more problems ever!

Oh yes the awesome f-Body power window motors/switches SUCK! Mine has always been super slow going up & down but never seizes up.. I took the 2000 for a spin on the weekend & it was below freezing outside & both sides were significantly slower than usual. I guess I will have to tear into them at some point & replace motor/regulator.. Every model of car regardless of manufacturer always has a couple of little things that are irritating & this is one of the 4th Gen Camaro's..

El Windows on F bodies do this ~ all the time, but there is a fix
get a technician who specializes in elec window repair and he comes to you. Have him force a screw into the regulator so thet i does not stop the window...after this you will not have further problems but the speed stays slow...it only works with the origional motor and regulator. I had a specialist fix mine and no probs since....find the right mobole man! ...most are scammers
