Modications?
If they are stock he has a 3.23 gear. Personally I would leave that rear end alone, they are weak in stock form and even weaker with a bigger gear espeically with a 6 speed trans.
Since the car is a 00, it does not have an LS6 intake manifold, I would definatly do that next, it's a proven 10 rwhp gain, also an air lid is a great cheap mod worth at least another 5 rwhp. ASP makes a nice underdrive pulley that will get you few HP After that I would start saving for a 12 bolt or a 9 inch as that stocker will be on borrowed time if you put any sort of stickey tire on it and try and launch hard.

?.... Hmmmn....sounds funny to me, considering ALL LS1 6 speeds come stock with 3.42s. The stock rear can handle 400 rwhp with no issues. After you do a CAI, Cam, headers with a complete exhaust, port and polish ur stock heads, and LS6 Intake, MAF, get it tuned and dynoed and THEN, youll be ready to upgrade to the rear. I know this thread is old, but this has been my exp.
