Default Ls1 stock gears

What are the Stock read-end gearing on a 2001 ls1 camaro z28 m6 ?
How can you tell what gears you have? I'm guessing stock is 3.73.

Is your car A4 or M6? ALL M6 cars have 3.42 rear end. A4 cars came standard with 2.73 but there was an option for 3.23's.

what does a catback and y pipe have to do with a cutout? i dont understand that part of the question.

DMH and QTP make quality cutouts.

It seems like I do too much shifting for them to be 3.42. Someone told me stock ls1 2001 was 3.73.

Where the heck are the RPO's??

they are wrong. 3.42 is stock, check your rpo code if you want.

what do you define as too much shifting? rear end gearing is not the only factor in determining how often you shift, each individual gear ratio affects that.

I have a 2001 SS and it has 3.42 gears. Your rpo codes will be inside your drivers side for.

I looked up codes, all they tell you is what type of car you have.
Would the vin tell me gearing?

If I really have 3.42s then I would upgrade to 4.10, but I'd be perfectly happy with 3.73s if I have them.

Did the previous owner mod the car? 3.42 is stock on all m6 cars. RPO codes can be found on the inside door jamb, we have a stickyy writeup in the 4th gen general discussion.

Previous owner did a lot to it, but I don't think he changed the gears.
Mine is AG1. Looked at z28 petes thread, but still no clue which gears I have because most of his links are dead.

if he didnt change gears, then you have 3.42. All M6 cars since 1993 have had 3.42 with no options for any other gearset. A4's had an option for 3.23, but thats it
