Default LS1 project help

I have a 00 SS M6 and I want to build the car but my buddy tells me I should just buy a V6 or a Z and just build that instead and keep the SS stock. I just want a couple more opinions on what I should do. I want to build the motor, either turbocharge or go all motor, rear end, exhaust, and suspension. What do you guys think I should do?

Your friend is nuts...a V6? Get real. Our SS's are not collector cars and will never be worth much so mod away and enjoy the car. What are your performance goals and what is your budget? I can give you a mod list that will put you into the low 12's, maybe high 11's for around $3000, and that is with no nitrous.

Don't really have a budget and I want to do low 11's. It's my first car that i actually paid for and I want it to also be somewhat of a summer car. It's got about 50k on it and it's been taken very well care of, no snow or rain except rain from me.( got caught in rain on the way home from work twice.) There's alot of guys around here with SVT's and WS6's with some work done. I hate most of the guys who drive Mustang's!!! but ONLY LITTLE GIRLS RIDE PONY'S!!!!!!!!! I would never do nitrous anyways. Can you give me a couple of mods if you don't mind. And i really appreciate JD and Uncle.

My buddy said just buy a V6 model and yank the motor and put a V8 in it and go from there.

Your going to have a hard time running a low 11 with that M6, the trans is just not that good for getting a good launch and the sycros are weak, alos the stock 10 will have to go, it will break with a 6 speed and a hard launch. A bolt in Moser 12 Bolt will run you about $2500, the trans willlast for awhile but in the end it will need to upgraded as well. HP wise a decent heads and cam combo will get you where you need to be. Not many M6 guys run that quick.

I am planning on getting a 9in cause I've heard some bad things about the 12 bolt. And the trans I was going to either build or get a Viper trans. What set of heads and cam would you suggest?
