Wham...I expect better out of you!
The LS1 is a 6-bolt main block. The LS1 and LS6 are the first generation, they differ in their intake manifold(although 2001 and later LS1s had the LS6 intake on the Camaro), heads/valve train and cam. We know the LS1 produced around 350 HP, the LS6 is 405, most the extra power it makes is above 4500 RPM due to the cam profile. The LS2, LS3, LS7 and LS9 are all the second generation of LS motors. They have a slightly redesigned block for larger displacement. The LS2 is a 6.0L (364 ci) motor and it uses the same heads used on the LS6 but a smaller cam which increases torque, but it makes 5 less HP. The LS3 is a bored and stroked LS2 coming in at 6.2L (376 ci). It had a revised intake, cam and heads over the LS2. The LS7 is the 428 they put into the C6 Z06, it has a full dry sump oil system, titanium values with sodium-potassium filled stems, full forged internals, titanium connecting rods...it's a beast. The LS9 is the new 6.2L LS3 based motor that goes into our beloved ZR1, but it's outfitted with the Eaton four-lobe super charger and makes more power than you would ever need in a stock street car. You can push 600+ HP on a stock LS block, they're quite robust...

well over 600hp on a stock block slvr. i've seen LS1's making 600hp N/A before. it almost seems like the LSx block is psychotic. my buddy Dave is looking at over 1000hp with his new setup (106mm turbo, 408ci LSX stroker). it was scary fast with the old twin 67mm snails. iirc he just got into the 8's with his car, and is looking to go faster

sorry slvr...i have an lt1 so i've always just studied the lt1. random people will PM me about the ls1. granted, i can give general beef up info as far as bolt ons, but after that i get lost. i tell them to PM spec but i don't know if they ever do.
do you port stock ls1 heads or do you buy new? i mean like stock lt1 heads will get enough power than most people will ever need...is it the same for the ls1?

The LS1 uses a 1.7:1 rocker stock, I think I've seen up to 1.9:1, could go higher. That said, if someone is doing a cam/valve train swap there's less stress on the valve train with a smaller rocker ratio. If they have the option to get a custom cam I would recommend more lift at the cam lobe and less on the rockers.

Ls1 vs Ls6
The ls1 and ls6 are basically the same bottom end. Bore , stroke , pistons all the same. The port design of the ls6 head is D shaped as opposed to oval, I believe the combustion chambers are 64cc compared to 66cc ls1,but the angles of the chambers make the power. Camshaft is upgraded as is the valvetrain. What's cool is all these thing are interchangeable.
