Default LS1 Differences

Sorry guys i dont have a camaro but im going to install a LS1 in my pickup and i figured you guys know the most about them. The question i have is what are the differences between the camaro ls1's and the corvette ls1's (if any) and is there a difference in the engines from year to year. Any info would be greatly appreciated. In case your wondering what im doing im going to do later this year unless something unexpected happens im going to purchase an ls1 and stroke and rebuild it to 402 ci. Then later sometime next year im going to add an sts turbo, i just need to know if there are any differences so i can buy the best engine to start with. Thanks guys.

All LS1's are the same, no matter what car it came out of. If you have not got a wire harness yet check out the Painless one that is made for swapping the LS1 into hot rods and older cars.

Yea thats a myth that a lot of people beleive. For some reason they can't let go of the "but it's a Vette" syndrome. The fact is the only reason the Vette was rated higher was to keep the Vette buyers happy, they don't like it when the F-body has the same power to $10,000 less. Don't get me wrong though Vettes are great cars and worth every penny, but facts are facts. Good luck with your build.

Really, didnt know that. Which version is better? I will probably install my own cam when I perform the swap but I might as well start with the better engine. I take it the newer engine is better but I dont know.

98-00 is 199/209 .498/.497 on a 119 LSA
01-02 is 196/209 .464/.479 on a 116 LSA

[align=left]Thanks for all the info. Yeah hopefully i will get a complete motor to do the buildup with. I decided to scrap the 402 idea i think im just going to rebuild the engine with forged pistons and turbo ready parts. Its a lot cheaper and since ill be in college thats a good thing. I cant wait till i do this this summer, my truck is going to be A LOT faster than it is. Regarding basic bolt ons for the ls1 is installing a ls6 intake or an aftermarket intake a good mod. I see them in summit and jegs and they say they give significant gains. Is this true? Thanks guys
