Help the Noob plz
I'm going to get a camaro soon and need advice ASAP. Im hard time deciding, i already know I want a 6spd Z28 or SS with an LS1 between yr 99-02. But im trying to figure if I should get an 02 Z28 with no real upgrades with 32K mi for $16.5K, a 99 Z28 with exaust & slotted rotors with 48K mi for $12.9K, or a 99 Z28 with 56K mi and lots of upgrades but hasn't yet passed smog for $16.5K. im trying to figure if i should get the fairly regular car which I can upgrade over time (because rite now i dont have the $ to upgrade), or just get the suped up 1? Im kinda new to upgrading camaros and I kinda want to custimize it more for drifting or whatnot, but should I just get the 1 already suped up?
Personally, I would go for the one with lower miles that has no upgrades. I think you would enjoy modifying it yourself, as opposed to buying it already modded. That way you can pick out what you want for it. Either way you go though, seems like low mileage on all of em. Good luck and let us know what ya get.
I will always buy an unmodded car if I have the choice, that way when you mod it you know that it is done right and no coners were cut. Also a modded car has a good that it was beat on by the previous owner. Some other things to consider. 01-02 F-bodies had the more desireable LS6 intake manifold, 98 cars had different heads that used a perimeter bolt pattern on the valve cover. I know of a very nice 02 Z28 with 14000 miles, it is a 6 speed car, the only mods are headers and a y-pipe, he is asking $17,500 OBO. The car is in the Chicago area.
My dilemma is, as much as i would love to get an unmodded car and start from scratch, im in college rite now and not working so to get the $$$ to do that is the hard part. I kinda want to get the modded 1 and change the suspension and supercharged maybe. the modded 1 has Nitto tires, Superchips chip, a new differential with 2K mi on it, n Eibach springs and its getting a new cat converter b4 its smogged. No real engine work done to it tho. The main thing is that i dont really have the $ to mod it myself anytime soon
well why spend all the extra money on a modded camaro when you dont even know how the car is stock, or if you even like them (as far as i know anyway)
on top of that, buying a modded car IMO is a gamble. you never know what the hell people did to that thing, or how beat the motor may really be.
do what you want to by all means, im just trying to steer you in what i feel is the right diretion/

Alright, i've been convinced not to get the premodded camaro so it's its between the 99 z28 with jus exhaust and slotted rotors and 48k mi, 02 z28 with 32k mi with new tires, or a 00 with about 60-70k n no major mods. I'm keepn my options open because there are about 2-3 dlrships i havent gone 2 yet. Well, basically wat should I try to get in it?
If you can afford it the 01-02 cars are your best choice besides the LS6 intake (this is about a $350 upgrade) they also had a slightly better ECU, the 02 with 32k mi sounds really good. Being that your in college and not making any money I would advise that you leave the car stock until you finish school. I assume you need a reliable car at this point in your life and once you start modding a car things can break, if you don't have the $$$ to fix it your stuck without a running car.
im just gonna agree with JD.
i spent many many nights up until 4 AM working on my camaros just to get them running sometimes to be able to get to my job after messing stuff up
