Default Help me please

I just bought a 2000 Z28 SS and have no clue what I can do to make it faster. I want heads but I am not sure what the best would be ( mac mid-length, Hooker Long..ect) I was told not to do gears and I balded my drag radials. Any suggestions?

There are a ton of things you can do. Lid,LS6 intake manifold, headers, cat-back, underdrive pulley, suspension parts, cam (big power there). You need to decide what goals you have and what your budget is and go from there.

I really want to get a whole new paint job so that it is an eye catcher, also it is my every day driver for now so I don't want to make it a track car. I just want to be able to spankmost any other street cars. I also don't know what half of the things you mentioned are[&:]

The first thing you need to do is learn how to power time the motor. I've explained this proceedure in the vacuum vs mechanical distributor Forum. Sorry got to go to work now!

Start reading the magazine GM High Performance. You can find it at good, big, periodical stands and shops. Study it. Don't spend any money for three or four months, just read the mag, and study the ads, and talk to people with modded cars. Learn a bit. There is a big differnece between headers (mid length, short, long) and heads, etc. you mention both and its not clear it you know the difference, etc. You need to learn a bit before you start spending.

Develop a plan -- what you can afford, realistically. Know where you are going with the mods, and buy into it gradually. Guys like me can put $50K into just an engine -- we make a lot of money and we've put all our kids through college and have our house paid for and gobs of money in the bank at age 60 -- but you mighht be different -- determine your budget and planto spend it well. Whether its $500 or $50000, know what you plan to end up with and buy it a stage at a time.
