Default Headers and Exhaust.

I have been reading up on Headers and setting up a dual exhaust system on my 2002 z28. I was thinkin running pacesetters now, and get more high end ones in a few years after I have graduated from college. Now the more important question that I havent seemed to be able to find answers for is the true dual exhaust. I know it is not necessary unless your pushin over 400hp, but that is a goal I wish to reach and I love the sound. I know you need to have a shop do it, and i went up to a shop and talked to them about it. He said he would have to run one pipe back (3 inch) and split it off. Im not much for knowing the know hows so im just wondering how a true dual system and how it is set up. thanks for the help

its usually run into an xpipe and split. But headers and a ypipe will support about 500hp.You will need to get a custom setup from a shop for true duals.

Yep, thats like the standard system, best full set up that is easiest and probably cheaper option is 1-3/4 primary long tube headers, into 3 inch collector, no CATS into Y-pipe with 4 inch single over axle then split back to two 3 inch pipes. you might need a BMR panhard bar relocation beam to get a 4 inch over the axle though.

Similarly for the true duals, same headers , no CATS , 3 inch into x-pipe then two 3 inch out and dump before back wheels for cheapest (but likely illegal) or run both over the axle, but not sure how they would fit.

With regards to headers etc, most long tube types i found are pretty much the same, its upto you on silencers/mufflers and deep noise or not. magnaflow site lets you listen and look on you-tube

http://texas-speed.com/shop/category...MID=1&catid=56 Is where i would get mine i hear they have a great true dual kit the only problem with a true dual set up is that it hangs so low. If you want it for the power then just get electric cutouts for when u wana race but if your going for the deep mean rumble the true duals give then go for it.
