Has anyone swaped a new ls1
I have a 95 3.4 v6 camaro convertable (the little baby of the family) And i plan on doin alot of work to it. I have beeen seriously thinking of swapping in the new LS1 intelligent motor that shifts down to 4 cylinders when your not on it. I think of all the investments that would be the best if possible hell the amount of gas id save in just one year would make it worth it. Just wandering if anyone has done that yet with the new LS1s. and roughly how difficult it was obviously there will have to be some modifying but im no rook. be easy guys this is my first post

people have replace v6 with ls1, most just opt to buy an ls1 cause the want the power and the swap is quite heavy.
You need to replace:
all brakes and suspension
need a V8 and separate PCM to control this and still have the V6 pcm for the car
youll need the v8 subfrae too
It is possible but hard work. I've not heard about this smart cylinder thing on the ls1's, i know bmw do it but not gm, do you know where i can read about this too?

i wondered if i could get something or do something to mine, im not usually bothered about economy but i drive it every day to work now and its just traffic for at least 30 mins, so i could just tick over on 4 cylinders?

If its anything like the cylinder cut-off thats on my brother 08 Dodge RAM I wouldn't want it. You can definatley tell when that ol hemi cuts-off 4 cylinders, it damn near shakes the hole truck. And when you take off from a light or parking lot the truck falls on its face a bit and then the other 4 cylinders come back on and shakes the truck once more.

I know they been doing it for years but im talking about the new motor that cuts off four cylinders when not getting on it. i think they were gonna put it in the new ss camaros at least there was talk. they might not have done it then.

That is a feature on the L99 Auto 5th Gen Camaro right? I have never heard of any programming or crate LS1 that had this "technoogy".... I say just go with a regular old LS1 & when you want decent mileage just drive so. IMO, all of the newest age electronic technology is just one more thing to breakdown.
