engine swap or rebuild?
I have recently purchased a 98' camaro with the 3800 series 2 with about 146000 miles on it. I am wondering the best method or way to refresh this cars life. Should i reman and retune the existing engine or should i upgrade to the more powerful v8. I want this to be a fast car someday and also I am considering expense. So to the question, What should i dokeep thisolder lowerhp engine or go to LS1?What is entailed in the engine swap scenario and what am i going to need in order to make it work???

RE: engine swap or rebuild?
How fast do you want to be? The V6 IMO is not a very good starting point if you want to fast for as little money as possible. The catch is this. An LS1 swap is goping to cost $3-4000 after all is said and done. For another $3000 you can find a higher mile V8 car to buy. The swap itself is not very hard, you just need the engine/trans, trans and engine mounts, driveshaft, exhaust, and all the engine and trans ECU and harnesses. The issue is finding all this stuff for a reasonable cost.

No i have the Series II V6 3.8 in my camaro too. Its not the supercharged one, itsjust the upgraded version of the Series I found in i believe 93-95? F-bodies. The GTP did have a supercharger on its Series II, but there also N/A versions.
