Drag Strip

Drag Strip
I have a 1998 Z28 M6... I am planning to take my car to the drag strip here in Oregon. Its in Woodburn. Has anyone heard of or been to the drag strip there?
I am new at this and am wondering what to do exactly, and if there are any tips or advice anyone can give me. I would like to know how everything works and how to launch. Just the little things that I need to know. Any tricks?
I am currently running on the SS Wheels with the 275/40/ZR17 Falken Tires. And with the A/C belt off.. would that help or no?

learning to launch an m6 takes practice and feel for your car. i always would dump the clutch from around 3k-3500 rpm on street tires my best 60' was maybe a 2.0. but alot of guys lik to slip the clutch. but slipping it is alot harder on the clutch. just go a try different things lik tire pressure launch and all. i used to run 18psi in the rear tires.
edit: i forgot to say. that for more traction and better weight transfer alot of ppl disconnect or even remove the front sway bar. but you probably street drive this more then race so if you do then just disconnect it. i have not tried this yet but mines coming out during my project.

3500 sounds high to me for street tires. but overall I agree. go out to a parking lot or back road and do a few practice launches. dont even need to wrap out 1st gear, as soon as the tires start to hook ull know if you did it right or not.
u gotta walk a line between not spinning the tires off, and not bogging everything down. ive always run drag radials and i used to launch around 3200 or so.

i found that it helped to spin and pedal then bog my car would completly die if it bogged and id run lik a 2.4 or 2.5 60 and thats aweful. the strangest thing is the one time i went i was launchin at 4k on street tires and it actually hooked decently

You can run with the a/c belt off. I ran with mine off for some time before i removed the system from the car. 3500 sounds a little high on 275 falkens. Launch at a mild RPM its better to keep a light foot and pedal out of the hole then it is to spin. The falkens are not going to give you a lot of hook so your times might reflect that a little.

Maybe with better tires. Burning the Falcons is only going to look cool its going to do very little for traction. Just give them a good spin to clear the water and gravel off unless you just want to put on a smoke show.
