Default cowl hood

Besides looking cool ( I think) do cowl hoods offer any advantages, to lets say the stock hood. I heard the stock hood works really good to get cool air in unless you sit for awhile then it just blows warm air in because the hood heats up. So any suggestions would help. Thanks. By the way I have a 99SS.

I don't think there would be an advantage over an SS hood for a '99, except for the cool factor.

On a carbed car the cowl hood will help get fresh air into the engine bay, but the way an LS1's air intake is designed a cowl hood will not really offer much in the way hp gains. If you don't already have one, an aftermarket air lid is a cheap and easy way to gain about 8 rwhp.
