Camaro programer

Hi I was told by a neighbor who is also a autos teacher and big on muscle cars and performance to buy a programmer to get some extra power out of my LS1 camaro. I looked and there seem to be 3 common brand The SLP Performance one, Hypertech and Flashchips. I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on what i should get.

Thanks

i have a hypertech it works pretty well can scan diag codes but only gives you the number not a description of the code, can remove rev limiter, top speed limiter, tire size... and so on.

Have you seen any significant power increase from it, or gas mileage increase?????

your not gonna see much power increase or milage at that rate if it was a disel then yes.... but since its gas maybe 15hp and a few extra mpg but scaning codes is a +rev limiter change is a+and topspeed cut out is a def+ ik my maro the one time i wanted to see what it would do cut off at 117 i was sad!

well power increase is so so... and gas mileage increase def not i have had an issue with my car since i bought it about the end of november dealer had to replace both cat's and all o2 sensors. i have been advised i may need to change my plugs thy may be fouled now. but my gas mileage is aprox 13.45 mpg or so.

Nothing beats just getting a software program like "LS1 Edit" and the the cable to connect laptop to computer and do it yourself or download pre-set Edit codes and install them. this gives you ALOT more options and control but is more complex. some of the programmers only work for stock type settings or if you added a CAI . If you've done headers full bolt ons...etc you may not benefit as much.
