Default Cabin Filter

I have a 1998 Z28 Camaro. Where is the cabin filter located and how do I take it out. I heard my car might not have a cabin filter but I don't know. Thanks, Nick

4th Gen's ain't got one! I spose you could wear a surgical mask if you're concerned about allergens.

pull the fan out and see if u have something growing it there. its under the dash on the passenger side. not to hard to pull off. also check for rotting stuff under the plastic thats below/under the wipers. if i remember right the system gets air from there. doesnt smell like antifreeze does it?

Maybe a little bit antifreeze but not enough for it to be the heater core.

Get some lysol and turn your 'vents' on (heat or cool doesnt matter - even defrost works) then spray liberaly under the dash, under the glove box areas and under the steering wheel. This will allow the disinfectant properties to get into your air ducts and get rid of the musty smell.

If you're getting a musty smell, then the drain from your heater box is prolly clogged. You can try to go fishing with a straightened wire coat hanger (with a slight hook at the end) from underneath the car. The drain hose is on the passenger side, near the floor/firewall area.

when or if u check the drain like 69 says keep an eye or nose open for antifreeze. if your smelling anitfreeze at all in your heating system then u could have a leak. it doesnt smell real strong when a leak first starts.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll check when all this damn rain stops!!!! (I'm in CT, 6" of rain!!!)
Speaking of rain, how common is leaking in the rain with a Camaro? I just bought the car (1998 Z-28, t-tops) month ago and this has been the first time its seen rain. The drivers side front and back floors are soaked but you can't actually see the water coming in. It is some how running underneath the plastics and into the car?
