Default Buying a ss soon. Whats the best year?

im putiing my 94 z28 m6 up for sale soon and i plan on buying an ss this summer. what i was wondering is what is the best year. Also what benefits do the different years have? from my research on google it sounds like the 02 is the best. i read the the 02 has a ls6 intake and some came with an ls6 block. is this true? i realize that z28 and ss have about the same hp and basicly the ss just has more because of exhaust and intake. BUt i just want the ss to have a ss. anyway i plan on doing basic blot ons for now until i can afford to have motor built and procharged.

Defiantly find a '99 or later preferably '02. All '01+ came with the LS6 intake never head of them coming with the LS6 block, not that it'd make a difference. Look for a verified SLP SS if you got the cash. If it were the me, that'd be the only reason I'd give up my Z for an SS, that or a '96 SS since they're super rare.

People will pawn off a base SS for a higher packaged SS. As far as I know, your base SS received a hood and spoiler. The rest (depending on package) actually got engine and suspension upgrades. Z28/Base SS were rated around 305Hp but could go all the way up to 345Hp for the top SS

I don't know if the RPO codes are the same for Pontiacs, but for the Camaros, WU8 is for SS. Y2Y is another you want to look for. Drivers door jam and sometimes the passenger door jam should have SLP stickers. RPO codes are either in the glove box, one of the door jams, or the center console. GM switched it at some point and I don't remember where they're moved to. I know my '93 has them in the glove box.

MK is correct on RPO codes, Z28 first, then the two mentioned.
GM sticker is on the drvr door. Basic SLP alterations did not warrant a second SLP RPO sticker on pass door.
Basic alts were hood, spoiler, 10-spoke 17" alum wheels, GM exhaust, and SS badges.
More options ordered at time of buy/ordering, aka, chromed wheels, SLP exhaust, etc., warrantied SLP RPO sticker.
