whats the best set of headers for the most hp for under $700 for a 98 z28 (ls1)? the exhaust set up ill be running is just straight pipes without cats. Current mods are lid, free mods, K&N filter, platinum spark plugs, and straight pipe exhaust.

I personally run the coated pacesetter/tsp off road Ypipe combo from texas-speed. they fit amazing and i got both of them for $500. shipping may have even been free....i dont remember...

the only thing you should do is get a better gasket, because the ones that come with the headers suck. i used them, but ill probably be replacing them and the header bolts this summer.

 

what if im running no Y pipe ? im just going to weld pipe to the headers and have it dumped before the rear axle

 

thats a bad idea. dont weld to the headers, use the band clamp that comes with the headers, but if you want to dump thats fine too..... ud just have to look around and have a shop set you up. you get more clearance issues however

 

sorry didnt mean weld lol but im just having straight pipes clamped on then right before the rear axle have turndowns welded onto the straight pipe. Im just looking for the most HP for my buck so what would you go with ? i was told to go with hooker super comps. sense there $400-$450 off ebay

 

you could do that. hookers are pretty good. if i had the money i probably would have gone hooker over pacesetter
