1999 ss camaro 5.7 v8 fuel pump assy
I am getting ready to attempt an install on a fuel pump/sending unit in my 99 SS 5.7 V8. I have the manual that tells you the steps but am not certain on a couple, one is lowering the exhaust system. Do they have to be loosened from the motor or will the clamp support in the rear be sufficient to lower the pipes? Can some one send me the info to jdtsblackssz28@aol.com? Also I believe that I need to replace the trottle body and not sure what a good replacement would be or price. I was told I could get an aftermarket one that will increase horsepower???? I priced the fuel pump/sending unit at the dealers and the cost is around $480 at Courtesy Chevy here in Phoenix Arizona or at Autozone an aftermarket is around $400.00. Any suggestions on buying a replacement? Not sure how complicated it is to put the unit into the tank once the tank has been lowered. Also was told that you could do a cut out above where the fuel pump is located on the tank and just go through the metal above it by using a holecut saw??? Does anyone know anything on this subject and exact location on tank?? Any help would be appreciated. I am only a half assed back yard mechanic and can probably do it but would have to take numerous stress breaks as patience is one thing I do not have!!!!! Anyone located in Phoenix that would like a job let me know!! LOL Thanks for your help, JT
