Default 1999 ss camaro pcv valve and hose assy

I had my 99 ss camaro 5.7 v8 checked out because of lack of power and service engine codes coming up. I was informed I had a bad vacuum leak at the back of the motor probably the pcv valve and or hose assembly. They did a smoke test and since you cannot access this area according to the mechanic, with out taking off the intake manifold to get at the back of the motor which I guess calls for like 3.5 hours????? I was looking for a diagram to show the location but my Haynes manual is missing that part. Can someone advise me on this?? Thanks JT

I really think your mechanic is pulling your chain.

Removal:
Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) tube from the right rocker arm cover and throttle body, if necessary.
Remove the PCV valve pipe from the left rocker arm cover.
Remove the PCV valve pipe strap nut.
Remove the PCV valve pipe from the right rocker arm cover and intake manifold.
Remove the PCV valve from the valve pipe.

Installation:
Install the PCV valve to the valve pipe.
Install the PCV valve pipe to the right rocker arm cover and intake manifold. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the PCV valve pipe strap nut.
Install the PCV tube to the right rocker arm cover and throttle body, if necessary

I am not sure but I kind of think so. They did a smoke test and it showed at the back of the motor a leak and I am not sure what is back there as you cannot see anything. thye told me pcv valve and hose assembly. Could it be the hose assembly that has a leak in it??? There smoke test showed a vacuum leak at the pcv. ??? Thanks JT
