Re-read his post....the cars don't drive themselves!A stock Mach1 willNOT be beating LS1's all day long. Now an experienced driver against novice is a different story. And since you don't know the facts here are some:

Mach 1: 4.6L 281 cu in. 305hp 320tq. 3.38 gears 5 speed

(any) LS1: 5.7L346 cu in. 345hp 360tq 3.42 gears 6 speed

There's your bottom line
Where are you from that LS1's put down 345 hp. and 360 torque?
GM purposely underrated the LS1 engines in f-body so that Vette owners would not get their panties wadded up in a bunch. ALL LS1's usually rate the same at the wheels...between 290-310hp whether Vette or F-body. Those that are higher on the scale are those that are manuals and 01-02 cars (which in those last 2 years recieved the Z06 clutch and Z06 intake and some even the LS6 blocks themselves.

Go to LS1tech, CamaroZ28.com...just LOOK at peoples sigs, and see what they are putting down at the wheels with their mods, then just grab a calculated and do some basic 3rd grade math. I have an 02 Z28, with only Long Tubes, an xpipe, ported TB, cold air intake and 85mm maf. I put down 351rwhp (WITHOUT the need of a supercharger, all engine baby! ). Now here is where some common sense and math kick in....

If I had the advertised 310 hp of a Z28 that would mean that my car being an M6 would make about 270rwhp stock. So if I am at 351 that means I gained over 80rwhp just from tubes, a tb, cai, maf and a computer tune????? riiiiiight. Scientifically impossible. It is COMMON knowledge. Contact anyone from SLP , or TSP, thunder racing, jeggs, lingenfelter performance or anywhere and you'll see.

And incase you still have doubts here is GM's performance site where you can find out about the LS1 right there in grey and black:

I knew they were underrated, but I didn't realize it was that much.

Did they over-rate the vette's then? Or did they rate them perfectly?

The first couple of years the C5's were a few hp overrated. But then when it went from 345 to 350hp, they seemed to be more on the money. Also believe it or not,SOME 02's have become affectionately known as factory freaks. This is because they seemed to come from GM with even more at the crank than 350/365tq advertised.

I SAW an 02 T/A with my exact same mods minus the 85mm maf, have an MS3 cam installed. After tuning the bastard hits 439rwhp and 482 to the fly. With only LT's, ported tb, cai, xpipe, pulleyand tune! that is the only proof that I can vouch for. but others in other forums have had some very nice numberswith posted dyno sheetsshowing gains of +15-25rwhp over other LS1 cars with the exact same mods and milage withing 15k of each, and the only other difference is theirs are 02's.

I hope mine will be one of those

zolius.. love the colour scheme on teh car... but i still want specters. he's giving it to me for free, when he gets his foxbody(j/k)

GM deffently gimped camaro sales lowering HP ratings that much, if u ask me..
soemthing i dont get.. well i understand how, but at same time. jus seems weird.. how 2 engines, 2 cars, exactly the same, same driver, same dyno, but one can run 12.8 and other 13.2?.. factory freaks.. understand the concept as to why.. but dont understand in general(specially this case, way TOO freaky[&:]. big time difference.lol)

... i want a factory freak.. illsticker it right on back window maybe liscense plate[8D]

My client doesnt remember saying this. but given his current state, he might have.... plus he is a little afraid that u know that he secretly wants to make a turbo 302 89 fox when he is old and actually has real money. [ch.7 news] back to u spec [/that stuff]
i have heard that many specs from GM were "sloppy".which accounts for the variance in power from these cars. this came from an owner of a dyno shop. he says on his dyno he has seen stock fbodies go anywhere from 290-330 (remember that all dyno's can vary (which is why its important to always use the same dyno when comparing ur car against others or ur prev mods)). anyway, 12.8-13.2 may seem like alot, but it depends alot on the track. we have a track around here (tristate, earlville IA) that has the max downslope allowed by nhra. the track I used to run at has a slick spot at the 300 ft mark, and the one i do now just isnt as fast. we seem to neglect track differences here, but heres an example:

twas night before something and all through the track........ i dont know how to rhyme [&o]
I used to hang w my friends ws6 (01, LTs, exhaust dumped, HPtuned) onmany consecutive roll runs (which get rid of driver error, plus, he can out drive me [&o]) (me: 98TA, free mods plus lid and catback, hptuned). he ran his car at the fast track and managed a 12.9 @110 with a 1.9 60, this was after the above plus 4.10 gears. i went to cordova which is known to beslower and ran a13.5 @105 and he is ******* me. but on the street, when conditions are equal i still get him. dont forget the road conditions. a fwd car can get u if he is underpowered and the "track" is prone to spin. im rambling now.....
