What do you recommend?
I have a '98 Camaro V6. Everything mechanically on it is stock. I have noticed a slight bit of rust on my muffler and I am going to get an entirely new exhaust system. My budget is up to around $700. I have been looking at slp and flowmaster systems. I would definently like a low pitched muscle car sound but nothing that cracks all the time. What would you reccomend? Thanx.
im about to get slp loudmouth but it does sound like you want the muscle car sound so magnaflow seems the way to go.look on ebay though because i remember a company selling them on there for 599.99 if you cant find them cheaper
i was actually goin to get rid of mine cause i wanted something louder.. then one day my mom took my keys and drove it around the neighborhood i thought someone stole my ***** car! i came outside and i saw a white camaro that sounded awesome then i realized thats my mother***** car! then i realized i loved the way it sounded. i think its b/c of the way it sounds in the cabin is more high pitched and doesnt sound that great but once you hear it outside from a dig. it sounds beautiful
I would reccommend Dynomax. Go to their website and view any statisical data, it flows better than stock, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, and even Borla. Ask any non-chain muffler shop owner and they will reccommend Dynomax because that is most likely what they have on their own cars. Search Youtube or something similar for video clips of Dynomax mufflers/catbacks for your car and it will sound better than anything else IMO. You get a nice subtle deep throaty sound with Dynomax. Magnaflow and Flowmaster have way too much cabin ressonace and give me a headache. To prove my point even more we have three vehicles one with a Flowmaster professionally installed catback one other with a Dynomax professionally installed catback one with a Magnaflow professionally installed catback. I have to say that I would choose to ride in our vehicle with the Dynomax catback than the other two when it comes to the sound of the exhaust.
Yes Magnaflow on V6's give me a headache so the **** what? This guy is asking for opinions on exhaust for a 3.8, how it sounds on a V8 doesn't pertain to what he is asking too much. I told him the truth which I can go experience by going in my driveway right now, turning a key, and revving the engine to high RPM's. With Magnaflow or Flowmaster on V6s at high RPMs the resonance frequency in the cabin is high pitched, whichto me is annoying.
