What brand carburetor do you use and why?
I've used Holley carbs mostly. I used an Edelbrock Performer carb once for a while. I never really messed around with it though. Same thing with a Carter. I didn't have it that long. Pretty much the same carb as the Edelbrock as far as I could tell.
Most of my friends use Holley's too. What are the pro's and con's of each carb that you used?
How do the Edelbrock AVS 650 carbs match up to the Holley Street Avenger 670 carbs for daily driving/mild street performance usage?

I have a slightly used EB on mine and it works pretty nice. easy to adjust for a novice like myself. i couldnt compare tho. I replaced the rochester q-jet. Which people have mixed feelings about. Most say quadrojunks tho, but some say if they are tuned right they are awsome. Mine needed a rebuild but I got a good deal on the EB so i took it.
I heard EB uses better quality material tho. from the guy who sold me it. But he could just be talking smack.
He said holly uses more plastic parts.
but just disregard my last comment because it could be totally false.

I'm done with Holley products (which also includes NOS, Weiand, Earl's, Hooker and Flowtech). I've been trying to get though to their tech suppport line since last Thursday for product information. I called twice a day Thurs, Fri and yesterday. I was on hold hold 20 to 30 minutes each time, before I hung up.
I called Holley's corporate office yesterday. A lady answered the phone, I told her I needed product information, she told me she was going to transfer me to their tech department. I told her I've been on hold waiting for them twice a day for 20 to 30 minutes each time since last Thursday.
I asked if there was someone else I could talk to, I just had a quick question. She got rude and said if I need tech advise I'd have to be transferred and wait. I said I've done that for three days already. I told her that when I call Edelbrock they answer their phone within a few minutes and that maybe I should go with Edelbrock's products instead. She said that sounds good and hung up on me.
Holley can go $h!t in their hat. I won't buy anything from a company that doesn't support their customers! I was going to buy a new carb and new fuel pump. Edelbrock or someone else with get my money now.

i use a ed 750 on my gillnetters 350 and it works great. had a 600 on it but didnt quite have the flow i wanted and a 780 holly dble pumper before that. cost to rebuild the holly was crazy and with the moisture and all it had to be done often. it was old style though so there may be inprovements now.

Holley or EB for me, although, I have had good experiences with Carters. I shouldn't talk because I have a quadrajoke on my 80 right now. Biggest problem I have found with quadrachokes over time is the wear factor on the accelerator pumps.
I have a 750 Holley I plan on swapping out, but too much other stuff going on to do the swap right now.
If you're not accustomed to tinkering with carbs, I think a Holley is the most user-friendly of today's offerings.
There's my 2 cents...
Good luck
