Need help with K&N
So I was trying to get ready for a smog check and I went to clean and oil the air filter which I havent done myself yet but is seemed pretty easy from the instructions. I took off the bottom panel and found my air filter wasnt even attachedcause the guy who did it lastmust have doneit wrong. So I cleaned it oiled it and went to put the filter back onto the intake tube and it wont fit. I have tried everything I can think of,I even tried pulling the whole thing out and putting it together like that and I cant get it so how am I going to get it back together from the underside of the car? This is the exact one I have http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku
I had the exact same problem. It's been awhile but all I know is that it took alot of prying with a screw driver to stretch the rubber over the induction tube and then tighten the clamp as much as you can. I have very scrawny wrists so I was able to some how get in there andget that filter back on. I took off the plastic and air dam underneath the car and got up in there. It took awhile, alot of tools getting thrown at the garage wall....and then after a beer and cooling down, I managed to finally get it back on.
yes. its a tight fit. i use a heat gun and get the filter rubber nice and hot, then it expands and slips right on... also i put the hose clamp on first cause its a pain to do when its all up in the little cubby hole............
See I am a girl and I read the instructions and it said dont use any heat so I didnt cause I didnt want to screw up the filter but then a guy at one of the shops I stopped at said just be careful and aim the heat at the rubber rim so I took out my trusty hair dryer and did just that and it fit just fine. That you guys for the help even though its a little late and no thanks to the prez from the Maro Boyz cause he was no help at all lol. So after all this working on my car I took it out for a spin and ended up in a ball of smoke turned out when I checked my coolant I didnt tighten the lid all the way and it blew off though it thankfully landed in the engine compartment and not on the road so now I have a whole new set of problems grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Im a chick also and the hair dryer came in handy for me too. If I would leave my95 Z28out in the rain for about 2 days, it would not start. It would crank over but couldnt start up. I took a hair dryer to the coil and it fired right up. I went and bought the MSD coil and it was fine for about 2 years untill last summer.....I now keep a hair dryer with my tools in the garage just incase it happens again.Lol.

. woman and cars, its a beautiful thing
