Default Loud exhaust

Alright. For my 1980 camaro. Im looking to redo the full exhaust. I want it to perform good, as welll as be super loud! Loud enough to wake the neighbours. Should i go with long or short tube headers? How big should the pipe be? X or H pipe? What kind of mufflers should i be using? Whether the cats stay or not doesnt matter to me at all.
Thanks in advance.

If you just want loud noise, just remove the cats and mufflers, and you will surely annoy your neighbor. Hopefully he won't have a high power rifle and shoot your car dead. lol

go with long tube headers. 3in true duals with an x pipe and dynomax bullets dumped before the axles (no cats) that is loud!

if you take your cats off you need to get an O2 simulator to get best performance

1) Definitely long tube headers with a cross pipe.
2) 3" pipes are too big and will be less efficient for a fairly normal 350, 2.5" is plenty. A good rule of thumb is 3" pipes will benefit an engine once it hits the 400 h.p. range.
3) A 1980 doesn't have post-cat oxy sensors...not an issue. That's a 1990's era OBDII deal.

I don't even think you need 3" true duals for 400 hp... But by then anybody who is going for performance is going to have a cutout installed...

Do a good cat-back that won't kill your ear drums. I advise Borla and don't skimp it when you do exhaust... It shows. Go with long tubes. Then get cut outs

That way... Cruising is nice and throaty but has good tone. But if you want, you open the cutouts and wake the dead

duel long tube headers with duel 27" cherry bomb glass packs with an H pipe is what im doing. right now i have them just strapped onto the headers and there loud! like fun morning wake up loud. open headers are death inside and im 18 lol. uhm cutouts= open headers also if u got money theres E cutouts. flick switch open header flick again there closed exhaust so its w.e u wana do. glass packs are louder than normal mufflers. so theres an idea. and i like them but there too loud under my butt off of headers there getin extended and dumped out before axle this week i hope.
