1969 camaro 427 stroker full roller high duration cam with 900 cfm holley, not sure of model but have been told it looks like street eliminator or demon? Duel feed duel pumper.

Problem is it idles too rich. I have the idle mixture screws out only one full turn, still get black smoke. Today I went to check the float levels and the rear bowl was dry. Front was set correctly. I am suspecting that fuel is bypassing somewhere in the rear metering plate or somewhere from this back bowl creating the rich idle problem.

This would also explain why even with no choke on the carburetor it will start immediately without touching the gas pedal.

Found the problem, whoever built the engine installed edlebrock high volume high pressre fuel pump. Pushing 10 psi, blowing it right thru the carb.
