Default headers vs. aftermarket cat. convert.

I have an aftermarket cat. converter on my 94 z28. I was pinched for money so I had it welded on instead of replacing the y-pipe. Would it be a bad idea to put headers on the car? I dont want too much pressure on that cat. if it cant take it. Thanks!

Default RE: headers vs. aftermarket cat. convert.

Is it just a cheap catalytic converter? It should still be able to be used with headers because it doesn't increase the pressure, it lowers it and has a higher rate of flow. It also just helps equalize the exhuast puleses from the engine.
