Default headers on lowered camaro

hey guys...been saving the money and i should have enough for headers and a y pipe in about 2 weeks. i got to thinking about it and am i going to have clearance issues with long tubes since my car is lowered? would i be better off going with a mid length? thoughts would be super! if you can't tell by my signature its a 97 ss automatic and its a convertible if that makes a difference

Unfortunately for you, they really don't make mid-length for our cars, don't ask me why...Anyway, when I did my headers the ground clearance change wasn't that much, I think my collectors sit about a 1/2 inch lower than my stock cat did, but I have Kooks headers and they are known for tight fit up against the car. I know I've said this a thousand times, but you get what you pay for in fit with a header, just keep that in mind.

You're on the right track, just a little off base. You have to have a header for a 93-97, the 98-02 won't fit because they have a different port configuration, so that takes out one set of mid-tubes, the other set of mid-tubes that you see in that pic is for a V6, which you definitely do not have Hope that clears some stuff up for you.

Edit: I took a look at the actual product listing, and they list Mid-tubes, but if they bolt up to the stock Y pipe that means they are actually a shorty header. Silly Pacesetter...

and i'm guessing you're thinking no for a shorty header? and just because it says it bolts up to my stock y pipe can i not change the y pipe?

I have pacesetter long tubes in my car and the ground clearance did go down some... sometimes they tap going over some speed bumps... if my car was lowered with the headers on it i would constantly be scared of bottoming them out

I always recommend a long tube over a shorty or a "mid-tube" header. Needless to say, if you do decide to go for the shorty you need to get a mandrel bent Y pipe so you can get a good amount of flow through it, the stock Y pipe is very restrictive (once you get it off the car you'll see why).
