headerbrands....
So what are some reliable headers for a 350 in a '70, mostly stock, just has a hot cam, plannin to put new intake manifold and carb but can't decided between edelbrock or holley... any help is much appreciated... thanx
oh yeah... sorry... i meant to put that in the sentence but it skipped my mind.... is there a difference between them? and what would be a good one for my engine... all it has in it isa hot cam....i don't know what brand though....i'm gonna change out the manifold and carb to either edel or holley but i don't know which one would be good? a 600, 750, 800(which i think is to much).. i just don't know... haha... any help?
On a 350 you're probably going to want a 600 or 650 cfm, if you've recammed it you'll probably be able to use the extra 50 cfm from the 650. I would go for an Edelbrock. I have an uncle that is really into classics and he recomended Edelbrock over Holley. He claims that Holley's work good in 2 positions, idle and wide open throttle, so they're great for the track. The Edelbrocks are a better street carb.
I think Hooker is #1 for the older cars.
as far as carbs go, I am very biased to a Holley-type carb. they are much more tuneable than the others and you can get much better performance out of them
I had dual quads (Holleys) on my 396 for years and I could tune both of them before most of my friends could get a single carb tuned on their cars
I do like the Edelbrock RPM air-gap intakes though, but it all depends whet you have in your engine and what you are ultimately looking for

are stainless better than ceramic coated... which of the too last longer in the"shine department".....well as far as i know.... the engine just has a hot cam.... no idea what brand.... and thats pretty much it.... i just want to make it a nice beefy soundin, speedy car... not lookin to make it a track car, just a driver with a little more than average speed...

Ceramic is probably going to "shine" longer because plain stainless is going to turn colors with heat (mine have
). You're best bet is to get a coated stainless header, such as Hooker Super Comps.
