exhaust noises

when cold, my 98 z28 makes like a sputtering, spit noise but not quite like a backfire, and goes away when it warms up. any ideas on what it could be and what causes it?

it sounds like aexhuast leak could be at the head or maybe the collector.or thegasket has blowen out or some were one the exhuast orit has come lose or there is a hole some were.

ok.well, im going to get my car inspected so ill ask the guy to look, and see what he thinks when i drop it off

when i took the y pipe off the manifolds on my z, i snapped one of the flange bolts. it makes a lot of noise until its warmed up.
