exhaust cut outs

Hey guys, I am making a set of exhaust cut outs for my 81. I want to have them blocked out when Im not using them but I cant find a plate to do it with. Please help me out. here is a picture of what I want to get. Thanks. Matt

most people just buy the kit that comes with the plate. Or you can just make it out of some 12 gauge sheet.

the problem is that I work for CHASE-PITKIN and they are going out of buisness so my 45.00 a week is gone. 250 dollar electric cut outs are out of the question. But honestly for 15 bucks and some work I think I can do it. I have tons of time after school anyways. I cut the pipe at a 45 degree angle and I will cut out the oval tonight. Hopefully I can weld it in the next few days. THanks for the input.

I just made the first hole, seems that I cut it too large. I will try to correct the problem

Ill take pics so I can show the project when Im done.

I can make a template for you of my block off plate, or a drawing showing the correct detail

I just finished grinding the crap out of one of the sides. I have it tack welded in place and will weld it tomarow hopefully.

I got one completly welded. The other was cut in school today. Will hopefully grind and weld by tuesday.

Ill get some pics soon.
