Dumb Question, Dont Hate
I know this may seem like an obvious question, but it could save me a bundle on my exhaust. Is it better to just gut my stock cat or go with an upgraded high flow cat? Im not really looking for that much performance, just a better sound really. I have a V6 if you havent noticed my sig.

I would go catless myself unless the emissions are a problem for you. people say the cats dont cut sound that much, but we do exhaust at my body shop, and trust me its night and day in terms of sound

I'd agree. I'm not sure if backpressure is an issue for these engines, but my friend got a high flow on his s 10 zr2 and it made it sound WAYYYYY better! Can you put a straight pipe where the cat is on the 3.4 or 3.8 without affecting performance?

the OP is from Iowa? well, then wtf is the deal? [8D]
u wont lose much backpressure with o/r pipes and the 3.8 is big enough it doesnt rely on it like the smaller 4 cyls do. at least not as heavily.

yeah emissions are a problem here in missouri. ill just go for the high flow cat. im just looking for the loudest i can possibly get while keeping it legal. im planning on pacesetter headers, then the highflow, and possibly a cutout, i already have flowmasters on it.
