Default 2001 Z28

Hey guys I'm new here and recently bought a 2001 camaro z28 six speed. Now when a bought it it had a stock exhaust that actually looked like a v6 exhaust, so I decided to upgrade and actually had some 3" straight pipes running around and it sounds crrrrrrrrazy. I really don't want to add all that cams, nos , chips and ****... but what would I do nextif I want to add a lil more hourse power?

If you already have the exhaust then a y pipe and headers could be a good start. Also a lid and a maf can also add a little extra kick and are a good way to go if your just looking for the basics.

Yes a full aftermaket air intake with a filter will give you gain in HP.

MAF= mass air flow sensor. It is used to direct the amount of air coming in to mix with the fuel.

LID= no clue[&:]

your car (being a 98-02 f-body) has a "lid" intake. You can either buy an aftermarket lid, or you can modify your stock one to be less restrictive like an aftermarket lid. I dont have a v8, or even a 98-02 so i couldn't really tell you the difference in power between the two. If your on somewhat of a budget, i would modify the stock lid.. If you still don't understand what i mean by lid, its the piece of your intake that goes over your filter.. This should help out. This shows how you can modify your stock lid to be less restrictive.

I would also definately get a K&N filter.
Sorry if the link doesn't help much, there is probably something around here somewhere with a bunch of pics to help you out if you decide to do that..

Check SLP's web site the lids are not veary expensive and should be one of your first mods. Or you can go all out and get the hole Air box with filter this is more recomended. The MAF (mass air flow metter) is a key to geting more out of your LS1 and for 200 bucks its a good mod. Here are some links.

Here is there main web.
http://www.slponline.com/

Here is the intake box and elbow.
http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=21047
New from SLP, the "FlowPac™" combines our Cold-Air Induction Kit, High-Flow Air-Box Lid, F-Body Smooth Bellows, and Blackwing™ Air Filter to create a single, jointly engineered package worth up to 20 horsepower over stock. Save $30 over the cost of purchasing the parts individually!

Here is the MAF
http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=23062
This mass air flow (MAF) sensor was designed for stock or modified engines. The lightweight (1lb less than stock) composite MAF has a 13% larger inside diameter than stock (85mm vs. 75mm) and will add up to 10 additional horsepower. This unit will flow 90 CFM more than stock (895 vs. 805). With the screen removed (not recommended for street use) it will flow over 1000 CFM! The SLP MAF flows enough air for engines up to 600 HP!

the MAF is a waste unless you get it properlytuned. your check engine light may come on also. think about a ported throttle body instead. better throttle response and if you decide to do H/C swap it will benefit you even more

Can you get MAF upgrades for a V6 throttle body? I bet there's somewhere out there that makes one for the 3800

Port and polish it yourself. Only way you're going to get an aftermarket one, is with a bit of custom work. All upgradesare for the Grand Prix.
