Default 1969 Camaro console gas gage

I have a 69 Camaro with the gas gage in the console. When you fill the tank, the gage only reads half full. One person told me it was probably a ground problem or a float out of adjustment. Does anyone else have any recommendations.

Gauge wire is by the trunk latch coming up from the floor. You can disconnect it and measure the resistance value into the tank lead referenced to ground.
0 (empty) to 90 ohms (full) will tell you gas level. You can record ohm reading when you drive the Camaro to see if s/unit is working correctly.
If s/unit is working, then gauge problem. Ensure power is correct going to gauge also.
