Default Z28 Wont Fire

Alright, This is what is going on with an '82 Z28 that I bought yesterday. The guy that had it before me said that he pulled the intake off to fix an oil leak. When he put it back together it wouldnt start. He did get it to pop off once or twice but never run. It will sit there and turn over all day without firing so I got the #1 piston to TDC and the timing was perfect. That is all I have gotten a chance to look at. Does anyone have any suggestions that I could try so that I can just hit them all one after the other until one works so I dont get my keyboard all nasty.

Since He had pulled the distributer to reseal the intake, chances are good that He has the timing 180 degrees out. Check the rotor and make sure it's pointing at the right prong for #1 on the cap. Easy mistake.

i'm with bill, alot of people mistakenly time to the exhaust stroke instead of the compression stroke. let us know how it goes. Sick

Allright I checked the timing and it is right on but when I pulled the spark plug it was soaked with gas. I smelled the oil and it also smelled very much like gas. What do I do next?

the question is how much cranking have you done on it? that would account for the wet plugs. you need to find out if it is firing. pull a plug stick it back in the wire and ground the tip. spin it over and see if it is firing. if it is you may be looking at a serious intake gasket leak. if it isn't it's either the igntion coil. ignition module, or pickup coil.

I have looked to if it was firing and it is. Im thinking that its the fuel pressure regulator but I need to get a gauge to check it. If I do find out that is the problem how do I fix it because nobody sells the assembly, they only sell kits to rebuild them. In my Haynes manual it says not to remove the regulator from the housing because of a comressed spring. If I buy the diaphragm kit can I change it without tearing it all apart and possibly causing myself a GIANT headache[:@] with trying to find another one or two?
