Z car? (Moved Thread)
Funny, I tend to have to turn here more then any other forums for my other cars besides my Camaro (which it still getting the new intake done and I kinda forgot where the intake bolts go eh heh...)
ANYWAYS for the main reason of this post, does anyone know about 280ZX cars? As, well, my Z car after I go for a drive and the engines warm its a little hard to start (sometimes it starts and the idle is LOWER the the speed of the starter!) but the main problem is this very strong smell of gas, almost like theres gas everywhere and there isnt, ive been told Im getting vapor lock but Im not sure how that makes this smell so strong and theres no leaks anywhere.
Do you guys have any ideas?

I'd be looking for a cracked fuel line,it may not leak enough to drip but you could smell gas and it could suck air displacing gas making it hard to start.
Might be a good idea to check the fuel filter first for being clogged up too.

I once drove a car that had really really bad fuel smell. Turned out it was a loose cap. There was also the time when it was the filler tube was bent.
As far as your idle. I think your carb-TB needs adjustment, perhaps its the choke. I think your car is too old to have all the high tech gizmo's like idle control valve, throttle position sensor, MAF etc... but if it does those things could be out of whack.
