Won't stay idle

Hey guys. 1998 3.8L 160K - The car will start but lately has been shutting off right away unless gas is applied. As soon as gas is released to shift gears or break the car will die as the rpm meter drops below the idle level. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Start by looking for any codes, check the IAC valve, check the TPS. Also tune the thing up if it hasn't been done in a while.
