Won't Start
Today I was driving around the block and got on the gas a little and the car died on me. I tried to start it and it wouldn't fire up. I waited a few minutes and tried it again and she took off and I drove it home. A few hours later I went out to start it up and it won't fire. It tries, but it won't go. I think the battery is low as it was sitting for sale for a couple of months before I bought it yesterday...maybe that's why it won't fire up. But as for the dying when I push the gas to the floor....maybe its the fuel filter? Help me please!
if it has been sitting for a bit ya fuel, fuel fillter depending on if its carbed or injected the injectors could b clogged or the carb could be gumed up basicly the best thing to do if u can is a complete tune up,plugs wires everything. every time i get a new car, boat, snowmobile or what ever i always do a complete tune up just so that for one i know it was done and when it was done. but back to the fuel is u can drain it and change the fillter and with luck u should b good to go.
I believe I can hear the pump prime when I turn the key. THere is no check engine light on. I have new plugs so I'll change those when I change out the filter. I'm going to upgrade the air intake as well....hopefully problem will be solved. Now I just have to get rid of this full tank of bad gas!
Should have got a mustang [:-]
j/k.
Maybe you are flooding it when you crank it, try some starting fluid before you try to start it. Have you tried starting it by bypassing the ignition switch with your ignition on? Its basically just tapping the starter nut against the + cable connection. Try that, maybe from cranking it so much the ignition switch could have gone out or shorted out.
And you have no idea how long its had a tune up so I would start giving it a supreme tune up (cap, plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, change your fuses, oil change, possibly the coil, and other little stuff.)
Trust me after a tune up that car will run better

That's funny you say I should have bought a mustang! I actually sold my 96 GT last fall and have kicked myself for it for the past year! It was a great car and never had any troubles...now I buy this chevy and the first day it dies on me! The thing is, I can get it started now, but if I try to rev it up, it sputters and/or dies. It seems like it isn't getting fuel!
