I have a 96 SS that i recently purchased, and i have noticed when i really step on it i head a low whistling sound. I had my buddy listen to it, and he said it could be the ram air. The car seems to drive perfectly other than that and its been well maintained. Any thoughts?

 

Sure its not a leaky windshield or one of those gag things that stick in the tail pipe

 

Harmonics? Maybe they all do that.....

Maybe a slight exhaust leak only under higher pressures?

Vacuum leak under speed?

I'd guess nothing serious since it drives right and no CE light or driveability issues.

 

When I step on my rubber duckie it whistles also. May be something in common. Seriously, may want to look at you TB & see if an airfoil thing was added and hangin loose, just a guess.

 

my geo's new cold air intake whistles now around 6 grand full throttle. its prolly just intake turbulance

 

I was thinking something along those lines, or perhaps jst harmonics. I should definately inspect the exhaust system for whistles and other gags, thanks guys [8D].

 

i got the same thing sounds like a lil turbo whistle when u step on her idk i have asked an thought it was a intake leak but no service engine light has cameon so im guessen its the ram air idk next tune up take it to a chevy dealer an have them look the car over thats my best advice..... let me know if u do i wanna know wat it is as well
