well my 93 z28 makes a weird noise now around 2k rpms its kinda like a ticking noise, it doesnt make it at idle just sounds normal, even if i hold the gas past 2k+ in neutral it doesnt make the noise its only when its in drive, the exaust sounds normal, it only makes the noise when im accelerating it doesnt make it when im coasting...any ideas ?

 

comming from the motor area or..............

 

yeah sorry it sounds like it coming more from the drivers side of the car maybe towards the front wheel

 

Possible rod bearing? Maybe exhaust leak?

 

i dont think its an exhaust leak, my oil pressure has been fine it hasnt dropped at all, its been at the normal psi, and i havent lost any performance at all

 

take a broom handle and hold it to each headerpipe at the flange, then put your ear on the other end,if its internal you will be able to hear it crystal clear.it could also be your fan hitting your shroud,especially if its a flex fan or the shroud has shifted.

 

I had a horrible exhaust leak and I never experienced a decrease in oil pressure or performance. You can only head them when the engine is under a load because the exhaust doesn't have enough pressure to squeeze out the smaller gap where the leak is, so don't rule it out.

 

yeah i checked the fan and seemed ok, thought it might have been the cold air intake tapping but that wasnt the case, yeah i was thinking exhaust leak or maybe a bad injector
